Force claims 148th no. 1 qualifier at Phoenix

John Force time of 3.99 seconds on Friday night held up through the weekend as the quickest run on Funny Car.

PHOENIX, AZ (February 23, 2014) – It was nearly another JFR double up for the BrandSource “Win with Force” promotion. Brittany Force and Robert Hight both raced to the final round but unfortunately they did not prevail. Luckily, John Force was No. 1 qualifier for the 148th time in his career setting a track record in the process. His time of 3.99 seconds on Friday night held up through the weekend as the quickest run on Funny Car. That feat put a front loading washer and dryer into the hands of Mary Dull of Marana, Arizona.

“I am OK. I am excited. I love this sport. I came here in 1985 at the first national event here. I was learning how to drive and our NHRA announcer Alan Reinhardt was learning how to announce. I match raced here almost ten years before that. I know this race track but so does Jimmy Prock. They gave us a good surface and a good race track. NHRA prepped it right and we are going to try and keep giving these fans a show,” said Force after he posted the record elapsed time.

“We watched Robert Hight and Mike Neff run that 4.03 in that Auto Club Ford so we knew it was there. We also wanted to make sure we got it in tonight. I think Jimmy had it pulled back just a bit but it ran just as smooth as can be. It probably could have run a little quicker. I am excited.”

At each NHRA national event when a JFR team qualifies No. 1 a lucky fan that has signed up at the JFR “Win with Force” display located in Nitro Alley will be eligible to win the BrandSource No. 1 Qualifier Award, a front loading washer and dryer set.
