Putnam, Connecticut, August 24, 1999 - Officials from Chuck Etchells Racing and Sickles Motorsports today announced that their teams had reached a joint sponsorship arrangement with Cognigen Communications, a Seattle-based company specializing in telecommunications products and services marketed over the Internet. The multi-year deal calls for Cognigen to be a major associate sponsor of the Sickles Motorsports Camaro, while the relationship with the Etchells Racing Camaro will be that of an associate sponsor.
"Cognigen Communications is a very unique and dynamic company in that they are not only seeking to expand their business, but to recruit individuals from our fan base for participation in a money making opportunity. We're pleased that a non-automotive sponsor recognized the many promotional opportunities available through NHRA Winston Drag Racing. We are both thrilled and proud to welcome them," stated Chuck Etchells.
Cognigen's sponsorship shall debut at the upcoming U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, with signage on both the Kendall Oil/Superwinch Camaro Z28 Funny Car driven by Whit Bazemore and the Sickles Motorsports Camaro piloted by Chuck Etchells. Although current plans are for this event to be the last of the season for the Sickles entry, Cognigen's presence in the NHRA will remain through the Etchells Camaro, with the Sickles "fuel coupe" returning in 2000.
"Our agreement with Sickles Motorsports and Chuck Etchells Racing represents our first effort to bring the world outside into our way of doing business," explained Kevin Anderson, CEO and founder of Cognigen Communications. "After all, what better way is there to illustrate the fast-paced world of the Internet than on a Funny Car going 300 miles-per-hour? We are looking forward to the integration of the Internet and racing worlds, and are excited to take advantage of Jim Sickles' presence on the Web by promoting them on our many Cognigen websites."
Since its inception in the early 90's, Cognigen Communications (www.cognigen.net) has shown rapid growth, with their services marketed by a network of over thirty thousand independent sales representatives throughout the world. Cognigen offers an entire range of products, from calling cards to long distance services, offering such industry standards as Qwest and IXC. The company's goal is to provide a popular opportunity for individuals and businesses to gain income by their activity on the Internet. In recent weeks, Cognigen has taken another step forward by recently announcing that it will become a publicly traded company, currently listed on the OTC BBS under the symbol SLTH, and plans to seek a listing of its common stock with NASDAQ.
"We are very excited to have Cognigen join our race teams," said Jim Sickles, team owner of Sickles Corp. Motorsports. "I know we are looking forward to working with them and taking the marketing of their products to the next level, starting next week in Indianapolis."
