WALTERS DOUBLES UP AT ORP DURING TWO DAYS OF RACING
INDIANAPOLIS (April 26, 2007) Tim Walters of Indianapolis was a double threat during the weekend as he won on both Saturday and Sunday at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. Walters won the Automotion Racecars Pro Class in the VP Fuels E. T. Bracket Series on April 21st and 22nd.
"It was pretty nice to go out and win both the second and third race of the season," said Walters following the race. "I didn't have a lot of confidence going into the weekend but things went my way and worked out."
On Saturday Walters got the jump on Marion Stephenson with a reaction time of .031 to Stephenson's .043 and was able to hold on to the win with a pass of 7.319 seconds at 91.92mph to losing run of 6.679 seconds at 99.41mph. On Sunday Walters was able to defeat Shawn Feece when Feece red-lit at the start of the race. Walters went on to make a pass of 7.333 seconds at 92.34 mph.
"I was a little worried about going against Jeremy Mitchell on Saturday but after I got by him I felt I had a good shot of winning," recalled Walters. "I also had the bye going into the final round on both days and that almost never happens."
Walters also won the United Construction Best Pro 8 race on Saturday night.
The VP Fuels E. T. Bracket Racing Series returns to ORP this weekend for two more days of bracket racing on Saturday and Sunday. Walters is confident going into the weekend but doesn't necessarily expect the same results.
"I hope to do good this weekend but I can't imagine of having a weekend again like that one," Walters joked.
"Tim is the defending ORP Automotion Racecars Pro Series champion and it is no wonder how strong he is racing this year as well," stated Mike Myslinski, director of operations at ORP. "This weekend featured another two days of great racing with over 450 cars on track and exciting races on both days."
On Saturday the Joe Barszcz Racecraft Super Pro, Automotion Racecars Pro, Rightway Automotive Sportsman, Vance and Hines Super Pro Bike and ORP Junior Dragsters were contested during the course of the day. Walters won the Automotion Racecars Pro Class; Shorty Rader won the Joe Barszcz Racecraft Super Pro; Joey Shipp won the Rightway Automotive Sportsman Class; Harry Suiters Jr., won the Vance and Hines Super Pro Bike Class; and Austin Carter won the ORP Jr. Dragster category.
