Englishtown, NJ (May 20) Day two of the 31st Annual Matco Tools Spring SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park provided fans and race teams with the same weather conditions that halted Friday's qualifying sessions. Rain was present most of the morning and early afternoon. Top Fuel qualifying did not start until after 4pm.

Tony Schumacher's Exide dragster was one of the few cars that made a full pass on Friday. Saturday, the team was confident that they had a handle on the tricky starting line conditions. Schumacher staged the car for a solo pass down the track and almost immediately, he smoked his tires. He coasted down the track to a 14.090 e.t. at 79.36 mph. Schumacher dropped to No. 4 as Joe Amato was the only driver to better Schumacher's previous 4.693 e.t..

"The track just fooled us," said Schumacher, "Dan (Olson) and the guys thought the left lane would hold the same setup as the right did on Friday."

"I guess your just going to have your car setup soft on the starting line. We know the track is sticking at the top end. In fact, it's almost too good."

Rain and concerns over tire wear on Top Fuel and Funny Cars caused the remaining session to be postponed until 11am Sunday morning. At that point, if no safety issues arise, Final eliminations will be scheduled to start at 1pm.

Final eliminations are scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN2. Check local listings for times.
