Team Jeg's looking for good outing in New Jersey.
Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey is the location of the seventh stop on the 23 race schedule for the 2002 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series and Team Jeg's. Drivers Jeg and Troy Coughlin are looking forward to a return to the track that in recent years has yielded some strong performances for the Delaware, Ohio based Pro Stock Team.
Troy Coughlin is confident of his chances at the Matco Tools SuperNationals, despite a disappointing DNQ at the same race the previous year. Troy enters the race with a string of solid qualifying performances including his second No. 1 qualifying effort in Bristol, Tenn. at the Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals a few short weeks ago.
"The team has been doing a great job," commented Troy. "Our in-house engines are becoming very competitive, and we have been doing a much better job making tuning calls at the track. The performance of our Jeg's Mail Order Cavaliers has continued to progress in the right direction. Hopefully all of our efforts will translate into a victory for the yellow and black in Englishtown."
Jeg Coughlin is equally optimistic about his chances in New Jersey. Jeg is no stranger to the winner's circle at Old Bridge, winning the event in 2000.
"I am really looking forward to Englishtown. The fans know and understand Pro Stock, which makes it a truly exciting place for us to race," said Jeg. "The entire team is focused on placing a mark in the win column for Team Jeg's. The racing in Pro Stock is more competitive than ever before. If we can start the weekend off with a strong showing in qualifying, there is no reason to believe that we won't be able to race for the win on Sunday."
Jeg and Troy enter Englishtown eighth and thirteenth respectively in the season long POWERade Championship points chase. Qualifying begins with two sessions Friday, May 17th.
