Jeg Coughlin, Jr. started the second day of qualifying sitting in the No. 8 spot.

Coughlin did not improve during the first session on Saturday and slipped to the No. 15 spot. The car went into to tire shake early in the run. Jeg ran completed the run to gain as much data as he could for the team.

"We crossed the line and were just too aggressive," said Jeg. "I stayed with it because of how valuable the data from each run is. Troy made a nice run and we will be able to tune off of his run."

Jeg blasted off of the starting line in his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier and posted a run of 6.711 at 204.57 mph. The run was good enough to grab the No. 2 qualifying position. Coughlin also recorded a new career best.

"We pulled up to the starting line and did what we needed to do," said Jeg. "We have a talented and dedicated team behind these JEG'S Mail Order machines. Making solid runs like this is all about team work."

In the opening round Jeg will face off against Gene Wilson. The match up will put a Chevy against a Dodge. Jeg will have lane choice when the two meet.
