Hillary Will grabs No. 7 qualifying spot
Faces Vandergriff in eliminations tomorrow
ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 23, 2007) -- Hillary Will placed her KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed dragster in the top half of the field at No. 7 on the final qualifying ladder for eliminations tomorrow at the 38th annual NHRA ProCare Rx SuperNationals, which is being contested this weekend at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.
Will's best of four qualifying session was a 4.544-second pass at 328.38 mph run during Friday night's qualifying. This will match the second year driver, who was born and raised in Fortuna, Calif., and now lives in Ypsilanti, Mich., home to Kalitta Motorsports, against Bob Vandergriff, Jr. Vandergriff qualified No. 10 in the 16-car field with an elapsed time of 4.557 seconds.
The ProCare Rx SuperNationals is the first of six races in a row that span from the east coast to the west coast. From Englishtown to Sonoma, California, with stops in Norwalk, Ohio, Bristol, Tenn., Denver, and Seattle, it will be a grueling test of teams and their machines. For many it will be a six-race span that could determine if they have a spot in the next segment of the Countdown.
It definitely is an important six races for Will and her KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed team, as she is one of only a handful of drivers still contending for a spot among the top eight drivers in the first segment of the Countdown. At last year's event held here on the Raceway Park quarter-mile track in Englishtown, N.J., Will advanced to the semifinal round. Will needs a similar showing tomorrow to continue her climb to the Top Eight in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel point standings.
