G2/S&S/Star Racing Buell No. 10 after day one of qualifying

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 18, 2004) -- Fred Collis drove the G2/S&S/Star Racing Buell, powered by an S&S Cycle V-Twin, to a No. 9 qualifying position as the first day of qualifying ended at the 35th annual NHRA K&N Filters SuperNationals presented by Strauss Discount Auto.

With both sessions today run under hot and humid conditions, Collis' first run was his best run. He covered the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park quarter-mile in 7.270 seconds at 181.11 mph.

"I'm happy to be in the show. We ended up 10th and I think we can do better than that. We're all going to put our heads together and see if we can come up with two good efforts in the final two qualifying sessions tomorrow," said Star Racing owner George Bryce, who along with George Smith, part owner of S&S Cycle, Incorporated, are partners in G Squared Motorsports.

George Smith added, "Fred rode the bike real well. Now all we have to do is get the tune up consistent and go through that experience learning curve that we talked about at the debut race in Columbus."
