ENGLISHTOWN NJ - SUMMIT FastNews - 1:00 PM -- After one false start around 11:00 AM, track drying operations started in earnest just moments ago.

If the current break in the rain holds, we could be racing in about two hours, give or take. It's breezy and chilly, the temperature in the fifties with the humidity close to 100 percent, so Mother Nature isn't doing much to aid the drying process.

No word yet on the revised schedule of events for today. In all likelihood, we will see at least one round of Professional qualifying as soon as the track is dry enough to race on, with a second round if the weather continues to hold.

The Sportsman schedule for the remainder of the event will be dictated by the weather forecasts and the strict local curfews. Racing engines cannot be started before 10:00 AM each day of the event and racing must end by 10:00 PM today and Saturday, by 7:30 PM Sunday. With the priority given to the Professional sessions, that doesn't leave much time for Sportsman eliminations, especially since the Federal-Mogul racers have yet to turn a wheel here at Englishtown.

Stay tuned, we'll let you know what's happening as soon as the situation is clarified.
