Cruz Pedregon/Advance Auto Parts Funny Car Crew wins "Best Appearing Crew" Award in Englishtown, NJ.
CAMARILLO, CA 5/20/02- For the second time this race season, the crew of the 2002 Advance Auto Parts Funny Car, driven and owned by Cruz Pedregon, has been awarded the prestigious "Best Appearing Crew Award" by the National Hot Rod Association. Pedregon and the crew won the award this time at the NHRA Super Nationals Englishtown, New Jersey.
The "Best Appearing Crew Award" is granted to the team that presents themselves in the most professional manner Thursday though Sunday of an NHRA event. "Out of six hundred race teams participating in the event we narrowed it down to three finalists and finally to the Cruz Pedregon Advance Auto Parts Race Team," said Glen Cromwell NHRA Director of National Events Marketing. "It really comes down to professionalism and cleanliness. It is really quite an accomplishment because Cruz was competing against all of our six hundred sportsmen and professional race teams."
"Having had the honor of winning the 'Best Appearing Crew' award as recent as the Gatornationals we are very proud to again have the Advance Auto Parts Racing Team recognized for their professional appearance," said Cruz Pedregon.
Cruz Pedregon returned to the track in 2002 with a multiyear partnership with Advance Auto Parts and two goals for his Funny Car Team. Pedregon says his goals are to, "look sharp, and to win." "Based on this second 'Best Appearing Crew Award' we have the looking good part down," said Pedregon. "The car is doing well, it is on its way to being a top achieving Funny Car. I think that we are well on our way to achieving both goals."
"Cruz and the Advance Auto Parts NHRA Funny Car team continue to display a superior level of professionalism, both on and off the track. The entire team is such a part of the Advance Auto Parts family, and the best appearing crew award in Englishtown is just one more reason why we are proud to say, 'The Best Part is Our People'," said John Vaughn, Advance Auto Parts Event Marketing Manager.
