Makes Second-Quickest Pass of His Career in First Round of Eliminations

Englishtown, N.J. - June 19, 2005 Clay Millican of Team Werner/Kenny Koretsky Motorsports advanced to the quarterfinal round of Top Fuel eliminations at his fourth NHRA national event of the season, the K&N Filters Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

Millican qualified for today's eliminations in the number six position with an elapsed time of 4.519 seconds at 323.89 mph. In the first round of eliminations he faced number 11 qualifier Ben Marshall. This marked the first time the two drivers had ever faced-off in an NHRA elimination round.

Millican began the race with a great advantage off the starting line with a reaction time of 0.053 seconds to Marshall's 0.116. Millican held his lead the entire way down the quarter-mile drag strip, finishing the pass in 4.508 seconds at 322.81 mph, while Marshall finished with an E.T. of 6.913 at 113.27 mph. Millican's E.T. was the second-quickest of his Top Fuel career. His career-best E.T. of 4.505 came at the 2003 NHRA O'Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston.

In the second round of eliminations Millican faced number 14 qualifier Jack Beckman. Millican once again got off the starting line first with a reaction time of .033 to Beckman's 0.093 and held the lead until the 1,000 foot mark, but dropped a few cylinders and crossed the finish line second. Millican finished the pass with an E.T. of 4.783 at 256.31 mph to Beckman's 4.621 at 310.05 mph.

"I really wish we could have gone a few more rounds today," said Millican. "I think this Werner team had a great weekend though, and I'm proud of all our guys. We got our second-best E.T. today so that's not too shabby."
