WEICKGENANNT IN 17th AFTER FIRST DAY OF QUALIFYING
ENGLISHTOWN, NJ - The Variform and Velux fuel Funny Car entry of Bob Weickgenannt and the B&B Racing Team is in the 17th position after the first day of qualifying at the Mopar Parts Nationals in Englishtown, NJ. The Columbia, MD based team ran an early shutoff 5. 857 second elapsed time at a slowing 168.43 miles per hour in the second qualifying session of the day.
As the team prepared for the first qualifying session in the afternoon, the car did not respond well during the warm up in the pits. The team decided to skip the first pass and wait for the cooler evening session.
After leaving rather sluggishly from the line in the second session, the car seemed to be moving down the track really well. "The car felt slow to the 100 foot mark" said Weickgenannt, "after that it really picked up." The car was on a beautiful pass until it seemed to lose power at the top end and Weickgenannt shut it off.
