Enders testing for Pro Stock Super Bowl in Houston

BAYTOWN, Texas -- Just when it seemed like it was going to be too cold and too late to make any more passes during Pro Stock testing at Houston Raceway Park, Erica Enders drove the Cagnazzi Racing Chevy Cavalier to a 6.695-second pass at 205.82 mph.

The run came just in time.

"It's been so cold the last couple of days that it has been tough getting down the track," Enders, 21, said. "The tires just shook in the first couple of passes today, so it was great being able to end the day with a good run. It makes the next morning a lot better for me and the entire team."

Enders will spend Saturday competing in the Pro Stock Super Bowl, the last day she will be in the car before the 2005 NHRA POWERade season opens with Winternationals at Pomona (Calif.) Raceway, Feb. 10-13.

The first round of qualifying for the Pro Stock Super Bowl is 10 a.m., something Enders is looking forward to.

"I'm excited for the Pro Stock Super Bowl because I will finally get to stage with someone in the other lane. We've been testing quite a bit in the last month, and it has been a series of single-car runs. Tomorrow we get to qualify and race with other cars. It's going to be good practice for Pomona."
