Eagle Racing Engines Secures Engine Program With Edmond Richardson
Loudon, TN. - In the wild, an eagle swoops down on their prey and the victim is usually anything but willing. However, when the Eagle is none other than Eagle Racing Engines of Loudon, Tn., and the prey is one of the most respected bracket racers in the World and named Edmond Richardson, this is no doubt a mutual swooping.
In a move that is destined to turn heads abroad, Richardson recently entered into an agreement with Eagle Racing Engines to build his engines for the balance of this season and beyond.
Richardson, who is a two-time NHRA World Champion, feels that he's making the right decision to go with Eagle as his exclusive engine provider.
"I had watched them over the years and they have a real quality operation," explained Richardson. "They make good power and from what I've studied over the years, it's reliable horsepower. That means a lot to us with our races as competitive as they are. Mike (Hedgecock) has an awesome reputation in the industry and I've wanted to do this for a long time. Finally, fate allowed our paths to cross. I think Eagle Racing Engines will take us to the next level in our racing program."
Eagle Racing Engines owner Mike Hedgecock, who is best known for his construction of the engines that ruled Pro Modified with Scotty Cannon, feels that bringing Richardson into the nest of champions is a tremendous free agent acquisition for his team.
"It has been no big secret that we've wanted to build programs in the NHRA," explained Hedgecock. "It's been a blessing for our staff to sign a top notch competitor with the reputation and record in racing such as Edmond Richardson. I am really excited to have him as part of our team along with Scotty Cannon. I hope this is just the start of great things to come forward for us. I think having Edmond and Scotty provides us with an excellent start."
Eagle Racing Engines has a storied career in the industry. The Hedgecock driven company first began to draw attention in the mid-Eighties with the engines that propelled the World's Fastest 1957 Chevrolet of Rob Vandergriff. They were thrust into the limelight in 1992 when Cannon contracted them to do a series of supercharged motors. This is an association that stands today even with Cannon running nitro motors.
