EARLVILLE, Iowa - Defending Division 5 Federal Mogul Dragster Champion David Wells will be looking to keep his momentum going from his recent win at the Colonel's Truck Accessories Nationals with another win during this weekend's Division 5 closer at Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, Iowa.

The LeMars, Iowa resident would like to not only like to pick up a win in his home state, but also to strengthen his bid towards a top ten national finish.

Wells said, "We're out of the running for the Division Championship, even if we win. We could win the race and it wouldn't do us very good divisionally, but it would give us some valuable points towards our national standings. After this race, we are going to concentrate on the national events from here on out."

Wells won his second race of the year during the Colonel's Truck Accessories Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota in his Blue Bunny Ice Cream/ "Plain Vanilla" Blown Alcohol Dragster. Wells ran a career best elapsed time of 5.47 en route to his victory, and feels that the Earlville surface can hold comparable numbers.

"Earlville is a really good track," Wells added. "It is a fairly new track, and it's all concrete. We stuck it with a 5.64 right off the trailer last year. We're going to calm it down just a little from our Brainerd tune-up to get down the track on the first pass, and go from there."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the Federal Mogul Dragsters at 5 p.m., with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will follow on Sunday at 11 a.m. Stay tuned to www.SummitRacing.com's Drag Race Central for day by day updates of the Blue Bunny Ice Cream/ "Plain Vanilla" Racing team's progress in Earlville.
