Motorsports Agency Welcomes First NHRA Client
Lincolnton, N.C. (July 7, 2008) -- Doug Herbert, NHRA Top Fuel drag racer and owner, has joined with MCG Sports, a marketing company located in Davidson, N.C., to provide public relations and sponsorship acquisition services for Doug Herbert Racing, as well as aid in the growth of his non-profit effort, BRAKES (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe). The 501(c) (3) was formed by Herbert earlier this year after he lost his two sons in a car accident and aims to educate teenage drivers on safe driving.
"MCG Sports has a lot to offer Doug Herbert Racing and BRAKES," said four-time IHRA champion Herbert. "I think their experience from NASCAR will cross over to the NHRA, and will be beneficial to me and the team. BRAKES has been steadily growing but it has a lot more potential. It will be great for me to have a solid marketing group behind that project which can really dedicate some time to it because it means so much to me personally."
MCG Sports, founded in 2001 by owner Todd Moore, currently works with clients in the NASCAR industry but is excited to welcome their first NHRA client. Moore has been involved in the motorsports industry for 18 years and has previous experience as the General Manager of the Watkins Glen International Speedway and the executive vice president of SFX/Cotter Group, a sports marketing and communications business.
"I think this is a great opportunity for my company," said Moore. "We've been fortunate to have great success in the NASCAR industry but we're looking forward to branching out into other areas of motorsports. Doug couldn't be a better person for us to team up with. He's a dedicated racer and he's doing great things with BRAKES. I understand his passion for teaching young teens about safe driving because I have two teenagers myself. Working on that program will be a high priority and something that I strongly support."
