DON SCHUMACHER ADDS TERRY ADAMS TO PRO STOCK TEAM
INDIANAPOLIS (May 16, 2006) - Don Schumacher today announced that he has added veteran technician Terry Adams as assistant crew chief on his two-car Mopar-backed Pro Stock operation that competes in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
Adams, 51, of North Wilksboro, N.C., will join crew chief David Nickens to help tune the Team Mopar/Valspar Dodge Stratus R/T driven by Richie Stevens Jr. and the Team Mopar/SRT Dodge Stratus R/T piloted by Shaun Carlson in the ultra-competitive Pro Stock class.
"I welcome Terry to the team," said Schumacher. "I have the utmost confidence in him and crew chief David Nickens, as we continue to develop our two Mopar Pro Stock cars into championship contenders. His expertise and years of experience will be invaluable to our team."
Adams is a longtime well-respected driver/tuner, whose most recent accomplishments include five Pro Stock wins (in 2004 and '05), and the 2005 King Demon Crown, as crew chief on Dave Connolly's Pro Stock car.
"I'm looking forward to working with David," said Adams. "He's a great engine builder and he's good at getting these Mopars up and down the track. I think with his input and my input, we can take these cars to the next level.
"I'm happy that Don and David both believe in me and I'm thankful for the opportunity. I'm used to winning races and I want to win some races just as bad as everyone else here at Don Schumacher Racing."
"He's got a lot of experience and years in Pro Stock," added Nickens, "so we're happy to have him aboard. He's going to help us make calls on both cars. He's very good at reading the track, so he's got a lot to add to the team.
"Don is committed to do whatever it takes to make these cars contenders for the championship, so it's a great move on his part to be able to add someone of Terry's caliber over here."
Adams will commute to the Indianapolis-based DSR Pro Stock shop and attend each of the remaining events of the 2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
