Chicagoland Dodge Dealers to sponsor NHRA Powerade Drag Racing Series event at Route 66 Raceway.

GLENDORA, Calif. (April 4, 2002) - The Chicago Metro Dodge Dealer Advertising Association has signed an agreement with the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and Route 66 Raceway to become the title sponsor of the spring NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event at the Joliet, Ill.-based quarter-mile facility.

The Chicagoland Dodge Dealers NHRA Nationals will be held May 30-June 2 at Route 66 Raceway. The $1.9 million race, which will be televised by ESPN2, is the 10th of 23 events in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series for 2002.

"We have a great relationship with Route 66 Raceway, which is one of the fastest tracks on the NHRA circuit, " said Pat Fitzgibbon, president of the Chicago Metro Dodge Dealers Advertising Association. "The Chicagoland Dodge Dealers are very excited to sponsor this race. We're certain that NHRA race fans and Dodge customers will share in the excitement of being part of this event."

It is the first NHRA sponsorship involvement for the Chicago Metro Dodge Dealer Advertising Association. However, Dodge is the official automobile and truck provider of the Route 66 Raceway drag strip and dirt oval.

"The Chicagoland Dodge Dealers Association and Route 66 Raceway have built a great relationship over the years," said Joie Chitwood, vice president and general manager of Route 66 Raceway. "Dodge is a huge part of the auto racing industry and I am thrilled they have chosen to show their support of the NHRA and Route 66 Raceway through this entitlement."

The Chicagoland Dodge Dealers NHRA Nationals is one of two NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events held at Route 66 Raceway each season. The track also hosts the NHRA Nationals, Sept. 26-29.

The Chicago Metro Dodge Dealer Advertising Association represents 56 Dodge Dealers in the greater Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana. The Chicago Metro Dodge Dealer Advertising Association is the official automotive sponsor of Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway. As a result of this sponsorship, Dodge is the official vehicle of both tracks.

Dubbed the first true "Stadium of Drag Racing," Route 66 Raceway provides top-notch entertainment for all types of racing fans. Route 66 Raceway is a multimillion-dollar complex including a 1/4 mile, 30,000 seat, stadium-style drag strip with 27 luxury suites and a 1/2 mile dirt oval track. The multipurpose facility hosts a wide variety of entertaining events, including two NHRA POWERade Drag Racing National events featuring Top Fuel, Funny Cars, Pro Stocks and motorcycle racing. Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States.
