DENVER, Colo., July 12, 2008 -- Two consistent runs Saturday put Justin Humphreys in the No. 8 starting position for Sunday's Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway and in position to continue his quest for a place in the Pro Stock top 10.

Humphreys clicked off runs of 7.040 secondsat 195.39 mph and 7.047 at 194.91 mph. He goes up against Jeg Coughlin (No. 9, 7.040 at 194.97 mph).JJSix drivers finished with 7.04-second times as the entire Pro Stock field struggled to figured out how to run at the highest track on NHRA's 24-race circuit.

"Our first run was one of the better runs we've made in this car," said Humphreys of the RaceRedi Dodge. "Mark Ingersoll (Allen Johnson's crew chief) has beenmaking calls forusbecause Frank (Gugliotta, Humphreys' crew chief) is unable to attend some of our races.

"It is good to qualify in the top half of the field and get lane choice. The track here is awesome. To run a 7.040 and 7.047 was good for us. Now we can concentrate on making a good run at a top 10 spot. We just need to go rounds. Maybe we can go four rounds on Sunday."

Humphreys is 12th and trails No. 11 by 18 points and 10th place by 72.
