Anderson takes his seventh pole in Denver

MORRISON, Colo. -- For the seventh time this season Greg Anderson has driven his Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am to the top of the qualifying order at this weekend's Mopar Mile-High Nationals. It was in the Saturday morning session of qualifying where Anderson shattered both ends to the Bandimere Speedway records when he ran a 7.205 / 191.38 mph to take the Number 1 position.

"We knew that we would do well here,' said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "Last year we barely qualified here and I was determined to not let that happen again. We came up here a couple weeks ago and tested. We picked up tenth from what we could run last year. When we did that, we knew that we would be in good shape this weekend.

"We made a good run Friday night. I got a little out of shape and missed it by a hundredth. I knew I could be faster this morning. We stepped it up a little bit and kept the Number 1 position. In Pro Stock to qualify Number 1 at one race is something to be proud of, but seven? Wow, it is hard to believe!

"I feel pretty good going into eliminations. This Vegas General Construction team is on their game. Everyone on this team are working there tails off and giving me the best racecar I have ever had. Tomorrow is another day, but I think we will be just as good tomorrow as we were today."

Eliminations at the 24th annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals in Denver, Colo. will take place on Sunday July 20 at 12:30 PM MT
