As Gary Densham well knows and will be the first to tell you, the track at the 20th annual Mopar Parts Nationals in Denver, Co. can be a hand full. " Not only is the thin air a factor, say's Densham, but mother nature can throw you an assortment of weather conditions". And today she decided to throw temperatures near 100 degrees and track temps. close to 140 degrees.

Friday nights session yielded cooler temperatures and Densham and his team chose to take advantage of this session. Gary piloted his NEC/Auto Club of So. Calif. Dodge Avenger to a 5.55et at 252.17mph putting him in the number 5 spot.

As Saturdays first session began, heat again was a major factor. In Round 3 Densham was able to muster a 5.96 at 181.52 mph, losing traction at the 8th mile mark.

Round 4 of Funny car qualifying again produced near 100 degree temperatures, and Team NEC decided to sit this session out." We've got all of the info we need at this point for raceday, said Gary, setting out this round helps us save money and parts going into this three weekend western swing.
