Team Jeg's - Pro Stock
Jeg & Troy Coughlin
Raceday began with Team Jeg's having the opportunity to meet in the final round of NHRA's most competitive professional class. It is a feat that the team accomplished in 1998. Having an all-Jeg's final round is what Team Jeg's strives for at each NHRA Winston Drag Racing event.
In the opening round Troy went head-to-head with V. Gaines. The match up put two Chevrolet Cavaliers side-by-side. The Jeg's machine left the line first by .006 seconds (.464 to .470). Gaines advanced to the next round by .0085 seconds. Troy crossed the finish line beams with a 7.354 at 188.57 mph.
"We made consistent runs and made minor changes all weekend. The consistency was back and it made tuning the car easier for everyone. We just fell is little short today. Team Jeg's is really excited about the opportunities at the next two races," said Troy.
Jeg Coughlin faced off against Darrell Alderman in round one. The two drivers had battled eleven times prior to this meeting and the Jeg's machine put the win light on in each match up. The Chevrolet Cavalier was in the right lane and the new Dodge Neon took the left lane.
Both drivers took their time on the starting line. The reaction time advantage went to .024 seconds (.416 to .440). The two raced side-by-side battling for the win light. Alderman turned on the win light by .0967 seconds at the stripe. Jeg ran a 7.410 at 184.62 mph.
"Getting to the first 60-feet was our obstacle this weekend and we got burned buy it. We will focus on Seattle and Sonoma and end the West-coast swing with a bang," commented Jeg.
