Herbert seeking a solid performance at the Mile-High Nationals

DENVER, CO, pre-race: Doug Herbert and the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel Racing team will begin the famous three-race NHRA western swing beginning this weekend with the running of the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway. Herbert will be seeking to get back into contention for the POWERade championship with a solid outing at the mile high facility.

The Snap-on Tools team has had several weeks to regain their championship-caliber form following a rare non-qualifying effort by Herbert at the previous event in St. Louis. It was the first time Herbert missed the field in almost three years. The 38-year-old veteran driver is slipped just one point out of the Top 10 in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series point's chase, and he's eager to return to the Top 10.

"There's no doubt that we've encountered some problems this season," said Herbert thoughtfully. "But the Snap-on Tools team is working twice as hard to get our car performing the way we know it is capable of running. We have a very talented bunch of individuals working night and day on the car and Wayne Dupuy and the crew are determined to get the Snap-on Tools dragster back in the winner's circle and we won't quit until we do."

Herbert, who reached the finals the Mile-High Nationals in 1993, would love to pick up his first Wally of the year on Thunder Mountain. A solid performance in Denver would help Herbert move back into the Top 10 in points and be a great momentum boost for the remainder of the western swing.
