Connolly Resumes March to Top 10 in Points Sunday

DENVER, Colo., July 12, 2008 -- With one round of qualifying remaining Saturday, Dave Connolly and the Charter Communications/LifeLock Pro Stock Chevy Cobalt team were in an unenviable position. Connolly was 16th after three mediocre runs and in danger of getting bumped from the starting line-up for Sunday' s Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.

"We knew Vinnie Deceglie had the opportunity to do it," said Connolly after
he turned in his best elapsed time of the weekend -- 7.043 seconds at 194.94
mph -- in the thin air that secured the No. 11 spot. "Going into Q4 on the
bump made me nervous because there will be a lot of people from Charter out
here tomorrow and we definitely wanted to be in the show. But I wasn't as
nervous as (team owner) Victor (Cagnazzi) was."

Both relaxed when the time flashed on the scoreboards.

Connolly, who meets Larry Morgan (No. 6, 7.032 at 196.22 mph) in the first
round, admitted it took him longer to get acclimated to the driving changes
necessary in the mile-high air. "We didn't test here and it took four
qualifying for us to get things together," he said. "It was a good run."
And now he can concentrate on winning rounds Sunday as he continues his
march to a top 10 position. "We'd like to go to the semifinals or finals. I'm
feeling confident on the tree."

Connolly is 11th in points and trails 10th place by 54 points with five more races remaining after Sunday.
