Treble has both good and bad race in Denver
Denver, CO Sunday Post Race: With a qualifying position of 14th, and a first round loss the Mopar Mile-High Nationals, one would think that Craig Treble and the Matco Tools Suzuki Team would leave the mountain and the event, with disappointment and frustration. But the season long question of what is holding back the Pro Stock Bike from its championship form may have finally been uncovered. "I think we got it," claimed Treble.
With much less air to work with in making power at Bandimere Speedway, all of the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Bikes suffered slower elapsed times and speeds while racing on the mountain. "This place is beautiful, but racing here is tricky"
It was just that lost of power that finally gave the Matco Tools Team the clue they had been looking for since early in this 2003 season. " I claimed all along that the problem was probably staring us right in the face, and in Denver we finally looked back."
Treble continued, "We have changed everything on this bike twice, tested on Mondays after national events, and kept Calvin and Mike up late working every night since Gainesville. Our standing in the NHRA POWERade points battle is lower than we want, but I assure you it has not been from lack of effort. All I can say now is that with our mystery hopefully solved, we are excited to get to our next race."
The Matco Tools Suzuki will compete in the next NHRA POWERade event, August, 1-3 in Sonoma, California.
