Taylor looking to stay hot in Seattle

KENT, Wash. - NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car ace Dennis Taylor and his Plumbing Concepts backed team enter this weekend's CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals at Pacific Raceway just outside of Seattle one of the hottest teams in the class. Coming fresh off a win at the Division 7 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series meet in Sonoma, Calif., Taylor is hoping to improve on his fourth place national standing this weekend.

Taylor, who runs his racing safety equipment company, Taylor Motorsports Products, in Anaheim, Calif., feels the key to his success this year and his plan of attack for this weekend is consistency.

"The consistency that my Crew Chief Ora Vasquez and my team have brought to this car this year has been the key to our success," stated Taylor. "We've been running well on the divisional tracks here lately, and the team is pumped about our next four races being national events. We hope to be able to get after it a little more, but the main focus is still consistency. Hopefully we can put it together and get back into another national event winner's circle."

"Now that we're getting a chance to race on the national level again, we hope to make a move in national points," Taylor continued. "We have only run at two nationals so far, so we're confident we can make our goal of a top ten finish or better."

Taylor is also excited to be racing in Seattle due to the fact that is where he started racing.

"I started off racing a long time ago doing bottom end on the Green Elephant Top Fuel Dragster that was based out of Seattle," stated Taylor. "So it's like going back to my second home in a way. We have some friends that we see when we race up there, so we would really like to do well up there."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two sessions and one final session Saturday morning. Eliminations will begin Saturday afternoon with round one, and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
