Wells looking to bounce back in Scribner

SCRIBNER, Nebr. - NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver David Wells has nothing on his mind but the getting in the winner's circle going into this weekend's Division 5 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at the Nebraska Motorplex in Scribner, Nebr. Wells and his Blue Bunny Ice Cream/"Plain Vanilla" team lead by championship tuner Norm Grimes hope to outperform rival Alan Bradshaw this weekend.

Wells, from LeMars, Iowa, currently trails Bradshaw by 21 points in Division 5 standings and leads Bradshaw by nine in the Jegs Sportsman All-Star standings. This weekend is the final event for All-Stars points, essentially making it a duel to the finish with Bradshaw.

"No doubt about it, this weekend we are looking to win and get ahead of Alan," said Wells. "I think we have the upper hand this weekend because Scribner is a pretty marginal track and it's usually pretty hot there. That's good for us because the A/Fuelers like Bradshaw really struggle in conditions like that. They really run strong on the good tracks, so I guess we have to make hay while the sun shines so to speak."

Qualifying will be ran on Saturday with three sessions for the alcohol cars. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
