LAS VEGAS - Armed with the confidence of having six-time World Champion tuner Norm Grimes calling the tuning shots, NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver David Wells is set to run for the money during this weekend's SummitRacing.com Nationals at 'The Strip' in Las Vegas. Wells and Grimes posted a semifinal finish in their debut together two weeks ago in Memphis, and are looking to step up this weekend.

Wells, from LeMars, Iowa, cites that Memphis was mainly a race to get the new set up dialed in. Wells and Grimes plan to 'get after it' in Vegas.

"We pretty much were just getting the new tune-up in place in Memphis," said Wells. "Even though this is the same car Norm used to tune, there's a few things different, so we are just getting those lined out. We are going to get after it some more in Vegas, and hopefully it works out."

Wells hopes the team will be solidly in the 5.40's this weekend, despite the altitude of the track.

"We hope to be in the low 5.40's this weekend," stated Wells. "That's what it is going to take this weekend. We'll just see what the track will give us."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two sessions followed by one final session Saturday morning. Round one of eliminations will be ran Saturday afternoon and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
