Wells looking to gain ground in Dallas

ENNIS, Texas - Just one weekend after clinching his fourth Division 5 Championship with a win in Noble, Okla., NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver David Wells is looking to stay on a roll and gain ground during this weekend's O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec at the Texas Motorplex just south of Dallas. Wells enters the event fourth nationally in points and hopes a strong outing can vault him to second.

Wells, from LeMars, Iowa, and his Blue Bunny Ice Cream/ "Plain Vanilla" team are also excited about the opportunity to race at the Texas Motorplex, regarded as one of the best racing surfaces in the world.

"We're all pretty excited about this weekend," said Wells. "The car has been running good, and Dallas is a great track. We won here last year and in 2000, so it has been a good track to us. We need to keep winning to move up in points, so hopefully we can get another win."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two sessions. Saturday will feature one final qualifying pass and first round of eliminations. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
