Dallas, Texas (Nov. 4) - Mark Whisnant, driver of the RW Performance Chevrolet S-10, entered Pro Stock Truck eliminations in the 12th position at the rain delayed 15th Annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals.

Yesterdays rained out qualifying session caused NHRA officials to set the Pro Stock Truck field on the drivers' position in the Winston points standings. Going into Saturday's eliminations, Whisnant held the twelfth position.

In Round 1 Whisnant met Steve Johns. Although Whisnant would have a slight advantage at the starting line, Johns would catch him at about half track an pull away from there for the win. Johns ran a 7.536 / 178.26 mph to Whisnant's 7.620 / 176.44 mph.

"We just missed our tune-up today," said Whisnant, of Stockbridge, Ga. "Because of the rain we didn't have any time on the racetrack. We had no data to tune the truck from. So we really had to make our best guess here today. I guess it wasn't good enough.

"Loosing here today wasn't really in our game plan. We needed to gain some points here this weekend to get closer to our top ten goal. I guess we will just have to go some rounds in Pomona."

The last race on the Pro Stock Truck schedule is the 36th Annual Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. Nov. 9-12.
