Jeg Coughlin Wins Third Straight

Jeg Coughlin is one step closer to capturing his second Pro Stock Championship by winning the O'Reilly Fall NHRA Nationals. The 32-year old second generation driver disposed of George Marnell, Greg Anderson, Jim Yates and Gene Wilson on the way to scoring his 30th professional victory.

Jeg has now won 7 of the last 10 races and three in a row. He now leads his closest competitor by 108 points with two races remaining in the 2002 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season. The next race is at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is two weeks.

"To do as well as we have feels just unbelievable given how competitive that Pro Stock is this year. The fact that we have won three races in a row is a great example of how focused our entire program," explained Jeg.

In 1997 Jeg made his Pro Stock debut at the Texas Motorplex. He was eventually defeated in the semifinal round.

"The Texas Motorplex has been and always will be special for me. Billy Meyer being a racer himself knew how to build a top notch facility when it was built. All of the winner's at this track since it was built have their names on brick blocks in front of the tower and now I can finally add my name," said Coughlin with a smile.
