(Houston, TX), For Texas native Rodger Brogdon this weekend's O'Reilly Super Start Nationals at the Texas Motorplex offers an opportunity for the Charter Communications / Attitude Apparel team to continue their upward climb on a track that the team considers to be one of their home tracks.
With the "TexPlex" just a short drive up I-45 from Brogdon's north Houston home, Brogdon is looking forward to competing this weekend on a track that has been very good to him in the past. "We've made our way to the winners circle before at Dallas with our Comp car, and feel very comfortable running on the unique all concrete racing surface. This weekend will be our first Dallas event in Pro Stock, but the experience we've got from running our Super Mod car here will come in handy."
As Brogdon and the Charter Communications team continue to work their way through their first full year of Pro Stock, the team continues to see improvements at literally every stop on the tour. "Fans see the Charter car and are familiar with the car, but in actuality this is a new team and car that has only been together for the last 14 events. This team came together at Atlanta and it's taken some time to jell as a team and to get car and components sorted out. In those 14 races we've gone from barely making the show, to qualifying mid pack and running a 6-second run in Denver's thin air," Brogdon stated.
"We've got a good race car with a solid team behind it. We continue to learn at every race, and yep, we've made some errors, but that's just a part of the learning process, ask any team out here how many times they stubbed their toe on race weekend. We are going to surprise folks with this car, and it may just be sooner than later. This weekend at Dallas and next weekend in Memphis gives us a chance to run on a couple of tracks that we've run on for years on the Lucas Oil tour and I'm looking forward to the opportunities that both races offer."
"There is a serious battle going on for the Full Throttle Pro Stock championship and while we're not a player for the championship this year, we do plan on mixing it up for the rest of the year with those that are. We came close to the semis at Indy, and I think we'll get there, maybe beyond, before the season reaches its end. All I know is I'm ready for whatever race day brings."
