Dallas, Texas (Oct. 21) - Qualifying at the 15th Annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals was canceled today due to heavy rain. Officials of the Nationals Hot Rod Association have rescheduled qualifying for Friday November 3, with Eliminations taking place on Saturday November 4.

Mark Whisnant, driver of the RW Performance Chevrolet S-10, will be one of the drivers that will return for the rain date.

"Coming back is going to be a little inconvenient," said Whisnant, "but we really have no choice. With the points as tight as they are we can't afford to miss a race. We are knocking on the door of the top ten. If we missed a race we would be completely out of it. So we will be back and ready to race."

In the next two weeks the weather could change drastically in the Dallas area. Fall weather in Texas can fluctuate from warm and temperate to bitterly cold. Whisnant talked about his weather concerns.

"If it cools down, or gets cold, we will be all right. We have the truck set up for cold weather now. Cold weather could make this particular racetrack a little tricky to drive. The grove is narrow, and it can be rough. We ran pretty good in Memphis and it was very cold there.

"We didn't get any trucks down the track this weekend, so we really don't know what to expect, but either does anyone else. We have been running well in cool conditions, so I think we will be all right.

"Coming back will be a little inconvenient. But we came here to race, we will be back.

Qualifying at the 15th Annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals has been rescheduled for Friday November 3. The three scheduled sessions will take place at 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Eliminations will begin on Saturday November 4 at 11:00AM CST.
