LUCAS LEADS THE WAY WITH A RESOUNDING 5.488 SECONDS

DALLAS (Sept. 22) -- Morgan Lucas led the way on the opening day of qualifying taking the provisional pole in the Lucas Oil Series Alcohol dragster division for the 21st annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.

The 22-year old driver recorded a resounding 5.488 seconds pass at a speed of 255.58 mph in his second attempt of the day. On his earlier run, Lucas succeeded in getting down the famous all-concrete surface with a time of 5.50 seconds to take the No. 1 position in the first session.

"We didn't change a whole lot on the car," said a smiling
Lucas. "We tuned the car way up and made of couple of small changes and
it definitely responded. Whatever the case, we're looking good."
