Whisnant to Sit Out Dallas

ENNIS, Texas -- Mark Whisnant, driver of the RW Performance / Snap-On Tools Pro Stock Chevrolet Cavalier, will be sitting out the 18th annual O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Dallas, Texas. Whisnant's best pass of the weekend came in the Saturday morning session where he ran a 6.893 / 201.07 mph leaving him in the 26th position and on the outside looking in.

"We have not made a good pass all weekend," said Whisnant of Stockbridge, Ga. "We cannot seem to get down the racetrack.

"It is one of those racing things. We have a problem, but we cannot seem to pin point what it is. This morning we made our best run of the weekend. It was an improvement, but still not enough to make the race.

"We are working hard. Sometimes it seems like we are making head way, but today it does not feel that way. We have the horsepower, but we are not making any gains. That is more than just a little bit frustrating.

"We are not giving up. We will be back in Las Vegas to try it again. Hopefully the out come will be better there."

The next race on the 2003 POWERade NHRA Drag Racing schedule will be the 3rd annual AC Delco NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas, Nev. Oct. 23-26
