Whisnant is ready for Fall Nationals.

Ennis, Texas -- This weekend Mark Whisnant, driver of the RW Performance Pro Stock Chevrolet Cavalier, will make his way to Dallas, Texas for the 17th Annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals. With the NHRA POWERade season winding down, Whisnant is hoping a strong finish in Dallas will solidify his position in the Pro Stock points.

"We are getting down to the end of the season," said Whisnant, of Stockbridge, Ga., "and we want to finish well here in Dallas, and the next two races, so we can secure our position in the top ten. Finishing well in the points is our ultimate goal, but first we have to qualify for these last three races, which is easier said than done.

"The Texas Motorplex is a good racetrack. We have never had a lot of success here, but what I can remember about this track, is that it has a narrow grove. We know if you make a mistake and get out of the grove here, that you are in trouble. This racetrack can be very unforgiving.

"At most of the races this year, if you are not in the show on Friday night, then you are going home. I do not think that will be the case here this weekend.

"This weekend the weather in Dallas is supposed to be cool, that combined with an all concrete racetrack; the result is that we are going to have some great conditions for Pro Stock racing.

"What we want to do here in Dallas is to make a good pass in the first session, and set ourselves up to make a great pass in the 'good' night session, but the Saturday morning session will also be good. So realistically, we will have to make four great passes, in every round, to be one of the 16 racing on Sunday. Which is business as usual in Pro Stock racing."

Qualifying at the 17th Annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec will begin on Friday Oct. 11, and continue on Saturday Oct. 12. Eliminations will begin at 11:00 AM EST on Sunday Oct. 14.
