ROCKSTAR Energy Drink/AutoZone Solara Runs 4.911 Seconds

DALLAS, Sept. 22, 2007 -- It was white-knuckle time for Jerry Toliver on a hot Saturday at the Texas Motorplex.

The driver of the ROCKSTAR Energy Drink/AutoZone Toyota Solara withstood challenges from Robert Height, Gary Densham and Scott Kalitta in the day's second qualifying session, leaving Toliver in the 16th starting position for Sunday's O'Reilly Fall Nationals.

"I need to retract something I said last week," Toliver said, "about getting the Funny Car qualifying figured out. I never should've said it because we almost paid the price this week. But we did qualify and we get to race Sunday."

Toliver's best qualifying effort was 4.911 seconds at 311.41 mph and it puts him against low qualifier Tim Wilkerson, who led with a 4.787 at 318.18.

"I think we have a good hot-weather tune-up . . . and it is supposed to be hot again Sunday," continued Toliver. "We are in show and, in the Funny Car category, anything can happen on race day."
