JEG'S Racing To Invade The Big D
This weekend the JEG'S Mail Order Racing Team travels to the Revell Nationals in Ennis, TX. The team will be well represented in Pro Stock, Pro Stock Truck, and Super Stock. Troy Coughlin will blast down the quarter mile in his #8 yellow and black Pro Stock Cutlass. Younger brother Jeg, Jr will pilot both his #25 JEG'S Pro Stock Cutlass and his #2 JEG'S Super Stock Grand Am. Mike Coughlin will continue to campaign his highly successful JEG'S Pro Stock Truck.
Troy is currently in the #14 position in the 1998 NHRA Winston Championship Pro Stock points. He is 150 points out of the top ten. "I am really looking forward to the Revell Nationals. This track has the potential to see 200-Mph Pro Stock runs if the conditions are right. My car has been running at the top of the pack in Mph since the US Nationals," said Troy. There are currently four members (Warren Johnson, Jeg Coughlin, Jr., Kurt Johnson, and Ray Franks) in the elite Federal-Mogul Speed Pro 200-Mph Club. The next two races have the potential to add members to this very exclusive club. Troy mentioned, "I would like nothing more then to be the fifth member of this historic group."
Leading "NHRA rookie of the year" candiate Jeg Coughlin, jr. will be behind the wheel of two cars again this weekend. He will compete in Pro Stock and Super Stock at the Revell Nationals. Jeg, Jr. stated, "This is a very special race for me, last year at the Revell Nationals I made my Pro Stock debut." Last weekend Jeg, Jr was runner-up at the rain delayed Parts America Nationals. His efforts moved him back to the #2 spot in the NHRA Winston Championship. Jeg is ahead of Kurt Johnson by 5 points and there are three races remaining in the 1998 NHRA season. "The battle for the #2 position will be one to watch! Our team has a lot of momentum right now and as a team we need to keep it going till the end of the season," said Jeg, Jr. Jeg Coughlin, Jr. is no stranger to the #2 spot, in 1997 he finished #2 in both Competition Eliminator and Super Stock.
Mike Coughlin is coming off of his first ever DNQ in Pro Stock Truck. Mike is in the #14 position in the NHRA Winston Championship points and is 108 points from the #10 spot. "We ran into some problems with my truck in Memphis. We have cured the problems that plagued us and we are looking forward to a strong performance at the Revell Nationals," said Mike. Mike began racing Pro Stock Truck this year at the Sears Craftsman Nationals, which was six races ago and four races after the beginning of the season. He is a threat to every competitor that pulls into the waterbox next to him. This driver's first NHRA national event win is right around the corner.
