ENNIS, Tex - Federal Mogul Dragster pilot Jay Meyer lost to defending three time World Champion Rick Santos in the semifinals of the Castrol Nationals presented by O'Reilly this past weekend at the Texas Motorplex, in Ennis, Texas. Santos defeated Meyer running a 5.503/256.33 to Meyer's not far behind 5.607/251.04. Santos went on to win the event, defeating Troy Buff in the finals.

Meyer qualified fourth with a 5.690/250.00, and defeated Bill Ancona in the first round with a 5.566/254.42, and Shelly Howard in the second round with a 5.764/248.31.

Meyer said, "There isn't much to say besides those guys [Santos] are just good. My crew-chief Stacy McLemore could not make it this weekend due to work, so that set us behind all weekend. We destroyed a clutch disc in the second round, and when we replaced it with a new one, it threw our combination off, and it shook real hard against Santos."

Meyer will move on to Hallsville, Texas for the rescheduled Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series event at Hallsville Raceway that was rained out two weeks ago. Meyer can clinch the Division 4 Championship by making the finals, or if Buff does not win.

"We just have to pick up and move on to Hallsville, and go back to our normal game plan," said Meyer. "We really will be gunning to wrap up the Division 4 Championship, and bring it back home. Unless we find some sponsor money, our schedule is very uncertain after Hallsville, though."
