Anderson anticipates a good weekend in Dallas
ENNIS, Texas -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am, likes racing at the Texas Motorplex in Dallas, Texas. At this weekend's 18th annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals Anderson may find more things to like about Dallas.
"Every Pro Stock racer likes to come to Dallas," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "The Texas Motorplex is the kind of racetrack and has the kind of conditions that Pro Stockers love. The racing surface is smooth and easy to get down, combined with the cool fall weather, we should see some great Pro Stock racing in Dallas this weekend.
Anderson arrives at this race holding the NHRA Pro Stock points lead. At the end of this race, he needs to be 277 points ahead of Kurt Johnson to clinch the championship.
"I will probably have another reason to like Dallas by the end of the weekend. Provided any unseen complications, I should be able to clinch the championship in the early rounds on Sunday.
"That would be great! I am looking forward to going back to stress free racing. It can really wear a guy out having to worry constantly about making prefect runs. Not to mention the stress involved with having the whole class watching you and waiting for you to make the least little slip.
"I am looking forward to getting the championship behind us, but we are not there yet. We still have a race to run this weekend. I do not foresee any problems, but I probably will not rest easy until we are in the show.
"This is Pro Stock racing, and as everybody knows, anything can happen. That is what is so great about this class; you can win a race one-week, and then not qualify at the next race. So until I know for sure we are in the show I may be a little nervous. Sunday we will take it one round at a time, and hopefully at the end of the day we will walk away champions."
Qualifying at the 18th annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals in Dallas, Texas will begin on Friday Oct. 10 and finish on Saturday Oct. 11. Eliminations will take place at 11:00 AM CST on Sunday Oct. 12.
