16th ANNUAL NHRA O'REILLY FALL NATIONALS

WHAT: 16th annual NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec, the 22nd of 24 events in the $50 million NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series. Professional competitors in four categories earn points leading to 2001 NHRA Winston championships.

Sportsman competitors in seven categories earn points leading to 2001 NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series championships.

WHERE: Texas Motorplex, Ennis, Texas. Track is located at 7500 W. Hwy. 287. Follow I-45 or 35E to Hwy 287, then follow 287 to the track.

WHEN: Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 18-21.

PURSE: Cash and contingency awards of more than $1.9 million.

SCHEDULE:

THURSDAY, OCT. 18 --
Gates open at 7 a.m.
Sportsman qualifying and time trails 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

FRIDAY, OCT. 19 --
Gates open at 7 a.m.
Sportsman qualifying and eliminations 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 2:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, OCT. 20 --
Gates open at 7 a.m. Sportsman qualifying and eliminations 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSIONS at noon and 3:15 p.m.

SUNDAY, OCT. 21--
Gates open at 7 a.m.
Pre-race ceremonies, 9:30 a.m.
FINAL ELIMINATIONS begin at 10:30 a.m.

TELEVISION: Thursday, Oct. 18 NHRA Heat at 6:30 p.m. (ET); Sunday, Oct. 21 ESPN2 will televise one hour of early qualifying highlights at noon (ET). ESPN will televise two hours of early round coverage at 4 p.m. (ET). ESPN2 will televise one hour of final round coverage at 9 p.m. (ET).

SATELLITE: Friday, Oct. 19, 8-8:30 p.m. (ET) -- SBS 6/Transponder 3 Saturday, Oct. 20, 9-9:30 p.m. (ET) -- SBS 6/Transponder 7 Sunday, Oct. 21, 8:30-9 p.m. (ET) -- SBS 6/Transponder 3

Feeds include action with natural sound of Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Truck, plus interviews with qualifying leaders on Saturday and winners on Sunday.
