Coming off their runner-up finish in Memphis two weeks ago, the Kendall Motor Oil/Matco Tools Camaro Z28 Racing Team came into this weekend's O'Reilly Fall Nationals with a great sense of anticipation. The Etchells Racing crew looked forward to the potential of posting some of their best performance numbers of the year at the Texas Motorplex. However, all talk of record elapsed times and top speeds turned to meteorological discussions, as the Dallas-Fort Worth area was drenched by two days of constant rain. Despite repeated efforts to squeeze in a first round of qualifying during the limited breaks in the weather, NHRA officials were finally forced to reluctantly postpone the event for two weeks, slotting it between next week's race in Houston and the season finale in Pomona. The revised schedule calls for one day of qualifying on Friday, November 3, with eliminations being held on Saturday, November 4.

"Although there really was no option, this postponement will put a severe load on these crews," explained team owner Chuck Etchells. "Not only will they have to compete on three consecutive weekends, but immediately after we come back and race in Dallas, they will have to pack up and make the 1,600-mile drive to Pomona, making sure to have the cars ready for the first round of qualifying on Thursday. These next three weeks will be a severe test for all concerned, but I know this Kendall/Matco Camaro crew will be up to the challenge."
