ENNIS, Texas (September 25, 2004) -- Cory McClenathan, driver of the Carrier Boyz Berryman Products Top Fuel Dragster, qualified No. 5 for the NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec.

McClenathan ran a 4.585-second pass at 305.70 mph down the Texas Motorplex quarter-mile during the Friday night session.

He will be paired against Joe Hartley in tomorrow's opening round of eliminations. Hartley qualified No. 12 with a run of 4.696 seconds at 319.37 mph. This elapsed time and speed were career best for Hartley.

"We did what we set out to do -- pick up Budweiser Shootout points. Now we need to go rounds tomorrow to gain POWERade points. Although we weren't as consistent as we would have liked to have been during qualifying, we did run a good elapsed time and will be ready for eliminations tomorrow," said McClenathan.

He picked up 20 points on Doug Herbert in the Budweiser Shootout and unofficially is 45 points behind with two events remaining in which to pick up qualifying points.

Final eliminations for all classes get underway on Sunday at 11 a.m. This time is subject to change and reflect Central Daylight Time (CDT).

ESPN2 will air same-day television coverage of eliminations on Sunday Night (September 26)/Monday morning from 11 p.m. until 1 a.m. (The elimination show will be repeated on ESPN2 from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, October 1.) Television times are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and subject to change at anytime. Check local listings.
