ENNIS, Texas - Federal Mogul Dragster and Funny Cars fought an unsuccessful battle with Mother Nature during this weekend's O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec held at the Texas Motorplex, just south of Dallas. The event was postponed two weeks after persistent rains haunted the track all weekend.

The Federal Mogul Dragsters were able to get two qualifying sessions in before the field was set due to the rain. In the toughest FMD field of the year, last race's winner Troy Buff once again led the B&J contingent in the category. Buff qualified No. 7 with a 5.547 at 254.47 mph. Right behind Buff was this year's Division 6 Champion Mark Hentges who took the eighth spot with a 5.550 at 256.55 mph. In round one, B&J customers to watch will be: <pre> 7. TROY BUFF vs. 10. Billy Bybee 8. MARK HENTGES vs. 9. Doug Foley 6. Jay Meyer vs. 11. STEVE FEDERLIN 4. David Wells vs. 13. SHELLY HOWARD 3. Brandon Henkelman vs. 14. JOE FUENTES

The FMFC's only were able to complete one session of qualifying, and will be allowed a second shot at qualifying when the race is resumed in two weeks. Once again, Randy Fleming led the way for the B&J fc's. Fleming recorded a 5.812 that put him fifth after Thursday's first session. The surprise of the session was B&J distributor Pat Austin not making it down the track during the first session, leaving the Tacoma, Wash., native not qualified. Look for Austin to step up during Friday's second shot.
