Hogan Reportedly Headed To Schumacher Racing, Replacement To Be Named Shortly
HOUSTON, TX 6/29/05 Top Fuel team owner David Powers has announced the departure of crew chief Richard Hogan. "Richard called me late yesterday to inform me that he'd been offered a similar position with Don Schumacher Racing, and based upon several factors, we mutually agreed that it was in his best interests to take Don's offer.
"I want to emphasize in the strongest terms possible that our race team remains largely in tact, that we'll continue to run the national events we'd previously scheduled, and that 'Hot Rod' Fuller will remain behind the wheel. I've spoken with Rod and he remains committed and dedicated to our team.
"There are several very talented tuners out there, and we've already had preliminary conversations with a couple of 'em, but no final decisions have been made. As soon as we've decided on the direction we want to go, we'll let everyone know. But, for right now let me emphasize once again that David Powers Motorsports will continue to race, and we will make our next scheduled outing at the Fram Autolite Nationals in Sonoma, California on the last weekend in July, just as we'd planned to since the beginning of the year."
Driver "Hot Rod" Fuller also emphasized his commitment to David Powers Motorsports. "I'm naturally disappointed that Richard's decided to leave the team because we were obviously working well together," he said. "But, I understand how these things go, so David and I will just move on from here. I agree with David that there are some talented guys out there, and I'm confident that he'll make the right decision in finding a replacement. I wish Richard well at Schumacher's, and I can't wait until we line up against him at one of these races."
During his tenure with David Powers Motorsports Hogan guided the car to two national event final round appearances, the most recent of which came at the Carquest Nationals in Joliet, Illinois earlier this month.
