COMMERCE, Ga., May 4, 2003 - Scott Geoffrion had another short day of Pro Stock competition as the Nitro Fish Ford Escort ZX2 was eliminated in the first round of the Summit Racing Southern Nationals Sunday at Atlanta Dragway.

"We put in our new motor for the first round and it just didn't work out," said Geoffrion of his loss to Taylor Laster III, 6.857 seconds at 201.58 mph to 6.901 at 198.55.

"We made the right call in changing motors," noted team owner Hurley Blakeney, "because we learned that wasn't the best motor. We're crating both motors up and sending them to (engine builder) Bob Panella's to get ready for our next race."

Geoffrion started from the No.12 slot, his lowest qualifying position since he opened the season by not qualifying.

The San Clemente, Calif., driver stayed sixth in points with 311.

The next event, the K&N Filters SuperNationals, May 16-18 at Englishtown, N.J., kicks off three races in as many weeks. The tour goes to Topeka, Kan., May 23-25, and Joliet, Ill., May 30-June 1.
