Jason Line Looks to rebound at St. Louis
COMMERCE, Ga. (April 29, 2007) -- Giving up a starting line advantage to his opponent Erica Enders, Jason Line lost a close race at he finish line in the opening round of eliminations for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals.
Line's KB Racing LLC Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO moved 25 hundredths of a second behind Enders. After the start, Line covered the Atlanta Dragway quarter-mile in 6.662 seconds at 208.65 mph. Enders recorded a 6.684-second elapsed time at a speed of 205.88 mph. Enders crossed the finish line strip 3 thousandths of a second ahead of Line.
"It wasn't the type of race that we wanted," said Line. "The car was off. The driver was off. We will rebound, hopefully in time for St. Louis. It's a short week and we don't have much, if any, time to spend in the shop. That's unfortunate, but it the same for all teams.
"I want to thank all the team from our shop in Mooresville (N.C.) for taking time out of their busy schedule to come down and cheer us on. I wish I had done better for you but your support and that of your families was greatly appreciated.
"The one thing that was great for everybody was that (teammate) Greg (Anderson) won the race. That puts a Summit Racing Pontiac in every final so far this year."
NEXT RACE: The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series now moves straight to the St. Louis area for the 11th annual NHRA O'Reilly Midwest Nationals next weekend at Gateway International Raceway, May 4-6.
