RIVAS MOVES TO SEVENTH IN CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS FOLLOWING SECOND-ROUND LOSS IN ATLANTA

COMMERCE, Ga., April 27, 2008 - Chris Rivas rode his G2 Motorsports/Drag Specialties/S&S Cycle V-Twin up to seventh place in the 2008 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle championship hunt following a second-round loss in today's 28th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals here at Atlanta Dragway.

Rivas, the 41-year-old Fresno, Calif., native, said the weekend was a very positive step for the Americus, Ga., -based team, despite the mechanical issue which locked up the rear wheel ended the second- round run before it could truly begin.

"I'm disappointed by the way things ended after the first round we had," he said. "But we are definitely on the right track. Today's first round proved we can run with the top of the pack." His weekend-best 6.984-second elapsed time at 191.54 miles per hour translated into a first round win over Eddie Murphy, who went 7.179 seconds at 186.18 mph.

"I was nervous before the first round," said Rivas. "I knew we had a strong motorcycle after qualifying and I did not want to mess up. And after the first round went so well, I was really looking forward to round two."

A season's best fourth-position start for Sunday's eliminations came on the strength of a 7.008- second E.T. at 189.10 mph run during yesterday's first qualifying session. "This team is really working well together, that's why we are getting better," he said. "I am really looking forward to next weekend's race in St. Louis (the 12th annual O'Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals)."
