COLUMBUS, Ohio (Saturday June 16) - Mark Whisnant, driver of the PiranaZ Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck, will enter Sunday's eliminations at the 37th Annual Pontiac Excitement Nationals in Columbus, Ohio holding the 11th position.

In the third session of qualifying Whisnant piloted his Chevy to a 7.566 / 178.24 mph to take the 11th spot. Whisnant's first opponent in eliminations will be Taylor Lastor.

"I feel real good about the race tomorrow," said Whisnant. "I feel like this PiranaZ truck is strong going into eliminations.

"We came here to Columbus hoping to keep consistently improving like we have at the last two races. In Topeka and Chicago we made small changes in an effort to try and improve with every run, and not make any backward slides. We did that, and wanted to do the same thing here, which we have so far.

"We feel like the strongest teams out here, and the ones which are winning, are the teams that are the most consistent. So we feel working on our consistency can only strengthen this team.

"I am concerned that we do not have lane choice going into tomorrows eliminations. This racetrack is notorious for turning into a one-lane racetrack on raceday. Right now the left lane is better by a couple hundredths. If it stays like that, we will be all right. If the lane goes away after the fuel cars run today, then lane choice will play a big part in tomorrow's race.

"Right now I feel good about this PiranaZ Chevy. I think that the way we stand in qualifying, and with the consistency we have, I feel like we can go some rounds here in Columbus tomorrow."

Eliminations at the 37th Annual Pontiac Excitement Nationals begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday June 17.
