Line qualifies for Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jason Line, driver of the KB Racing Pontiac Grand Am, in his first outing in Pro Stock has qualified 14th for tomorrow's 39th annual Pontiac Excitement Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. In the last session of qualifying Line drove his KB Racing ride to a 6.911 / 199.59 mph to secure his position in tomorrow's race.
"I am pretty excited," said Line of Mooresville, NC. "This morning I was not sure I could make the field. After yesterdays run, I did not really think we could get this car good enough to make the race."
"This is a brand new car. Due to weather, we have not been able to put many runs on the car before we came here. Yesterday I got past the 60-foot traps and started to shake very violently. I held on to it as long as I could, but I ended up shutting it off at about 1000 feet."
"I have seen a lot of teams out here struggle with the new car blues, and I thought that would be the case for us. I guess I am showing what a rookie I am because today it was a different story. Today, we made two good passes, and the outcome is that we are racing tomorrow."
"I know how tough this class is, and I also know the caliber of driver there are in this class. To be able to qualify, and race with guys like Warren Johnson and Jim Yates is a dream come true for me. Tomorrow I am going to try to do my best, and hopefully I can go a couple of rounds. If not it was just great to be racing on Sunday."
